The SEM Digital toolset improves your analysis-based planning of your grid, campus or side infrastructure, asset sizing and portfolio mix and real-time orchestration. With our low-code approach you don’t need your own data scientists to be flexible.

How the SEM Simulator works

Flexible, highly scalable, and customizable, the SEM Simulator lets planners set the objective and simulate multiple optimization scenarios over a broad time horizon. This allows customers to validate the optimal scenario to meet defined goals. Our approach is tech-neutral, vendor-neutral and market-neutral.

Understand impact prior to new investment

Before making an investment or connecting assets, customers can understand the current status of generation, storage and consumption assets and the resulting impact on grid behavior. They can also understand how much and what type of storage or generation to invest in, and how that will impact the grid operation before it happens.

Evaluate impact of portfolio grouping and optimization

Grid operators and aggregators can make informed operational decisions by evaluating how grouped assets work together. They can also continuously refine and optimize them to hit flexibility, storage, generation, and consumption objectives.

Simulate a variety of orchestration configurations

Simulating a variety of scenarios allows customers to test outcomes before settling on one that best fits their objectives. By simulating variables, the SEM Simulator reduces complexities, provides greater flexibility, and provides a more convenient way to manage, control, and scale diverse assets as a group. 

A digital toolset 

In 2024 SEM’s digital toolset will grow with the launch of the SEM Orchestrator. Designed to work seamlessly with the Simulator, the Orchestrator will deploy, monitor, and orchestrate. 

When the Simulator has validated the optimal scenario, the Orchestrator will deploy that scenario using intelligent automation in a low-code environment. Working in shadow mode, it monitors the behavior in real-time to ensure it works in the field. Once confirmed, it will automate the orchestration of the assets.
